In reflecting on his journey, one of the most significant choices Henok Fekadu, MD, made in his pursuit of a residency program in the United States was joining the Guardian Group. This decision, though seemingly simple, proved foundational in shaping his professional path. In his role, which includes history taking, report editing, liaising, and assisting Qualified Medical Examiners (QMEs) during in-person evaluations, Dr. Fekadu has gained invaluable experience. These responsibilities have honed his interpersonal communication skills and deepened his English proficiency, particularly in professional settings. Moreover, they have provided him with a deeper understanding of the US healthcare system, expanded his professional network, and connected him with a remarkable team of professionals, including the esteemed QMEs associated with the company.

Dr. Fekadu’s academic journey culminated in December 2020 when he earned his MD from the Orotta School of Medicine and Dentistry. Since then, he has practiced as a licensed general practitioner and undergone surgical training in Eritrea, as well as in neighboring South Sudan and Uganda. While these experiences enriched his understanding of patient care, his desire for specialization led him to pursue a residency in the United States. Having successfully completed USMLE Step 1 and Step 2, he is now focused on completing the remainder of his application to position himself as a competitive candidate for the 2025 residency season.

Dr. Fekadu firmly believes that working within the medico-legal sector significantly enhances a physician’s expertise. This field not only simplifies the complexities of the healthcare system but also ensures that patients receive the proper and necessary care they deserve.

Balancing work and study has presented challenges, but Dr. Fekadu finds solace in basketball and outings with friends. Looking ahead, he is eager to explore Central and South America in 2025, continuing his pursuit of both personal and professional growth.
