In 2021, I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree from the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute after completing my Bachelor of Science in Biology at De La Salle University, Manila, in 2017. Following post-graduate training in the Philippines, I became a licensed General Physician, further honing my patient interaction, management, documentation, and effective communication skills. Passionate about continuous growth, I enjoy reading diverse literature and exploring the outdoors through activities like hiking.
At The Guardian Group, I’ve developed a deeper appreciation for empathy, teamwork, and the critical importance of meticulous record-keeping in supporting accurate claims and high-quality patient care. One of my notable accomplishments includes reconstructing and refining a fragmented medical history, which provided clarity for diagnosis and treatment planning. This experience has deepened my understanding of the complexities of healthcare and strengthened my commitment to patient-centered practice. The collaborative environment and exposure to a network of healthcare professionals have offered invaluable opportunities for growth, development, and meaningful connections—these are among the most fulfilling aspects of my work at The Guardian Group.
I have done many different roles for the Guardian, including as a manager, a medical assistant, a records and billing clerk, a historian, a QA editor, and as a liaison. One of the most important skills I’ve learned while doing all those roles was being able to adapt and apply solutions that provide the most benefit.
I learned the industry and how the company works so that I could solve problems or provide more value to our doctors. I think this was one of the most challenging experiences I had while working for the company because aside from my medical experience, I had no knowledge of the medical-legal industry when I first started out. I think what helped me overcome this issue and actually shine is my co-workers and manager. They took the time to share their knowledge in building me up so I could do the same for the company. I take this to heart and try to do the same with our newer employees. As an MD, working here has allowed me to learn the value of evidence-based medicine. It inspires me to ensure that I am competent enough to provide the proper evaluation and treatment that is fair to all.
Working with The Guardian Group has provided me with the flexibility to pursue my goals and still be active in the realm of medicine. My work with The Guardian Group has allowed me to observe how the legal system interplays with medical decisions and vice-versa. It has also allowed me to network with various healthcare providers and gather their perspectives on the administrative side of healthcare.
When I’m not working, I typically enjoy playing video games and building model kits. I also use my time to motivate and educate medical graduates on the procedures required to gain admission into the American medical residency programs.
